PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Patrick Sharp tallied the deciding shootout goal for the
streaking Philadelphia Phantoms in a 2-1 victory over the Binghamton Senators
on Wednesday. Sharp, who evened the score at 1-1 on the power play late in
the second period, put the puck past goaltender Ray Emery on his second
attempt of the shootout. Antero Niittymaki, who recorded his eighth victory in
as many starts, denied each of the six players he faced in the shootout and
made 20 saves for Philadelphia, which extended its franchise-record winning
streak to 11 games. Emery turned aside 25 shots in the loss. Denis Hamel had a
unassisted short-handed goal for Binghamton, which fell to 2-5-0-2 when facing
Atlantic-Division opponents.
