PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Ben Stafford scored midway through overtime to give the
Philadelphia Phantoms a franchise-best 10 straight wins by defeating the
Norfolk Admirals, 3-2, on Sunday. Stafford, who helped Tony Voce break a
scoreless tie on the power play late in the second period, took a pass from
Mark Murphy and beat goaltender Craig Anderson for his second goal of the season. R.J. Umberger had a goal and an assist, giving him six assists and
nine points over his last nine games, and Antero Niittymaki, who allowed two
goals or less for the sixth time in as many starts, turned aside 22 shots to
pick up the win for Philadelphia, which has recorded three consecutive
one-goal victories. Anderson was unable to stop the third shot he faced in
overtime and finished with 24 saves in the loss. Rene Bourque and Jason Morgan
each scored for Norfolk, which dropped to 4-4-1-1 on the road.
