PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Patrick Sharp and Tony Voce each scored in the third
period to lift the Philadelphia Phantoms over the Hamilton Bulldogs, 5-3, on
Friday. Sharp broke a 3-3 tie on the power play six minutes into the final
stanza, extending his point-scoring streak to three games and Voce, who
recorded his first-ever professional point with an assist in the second
period, capped the scoring late in the contest with a man-advantage tally.
Eric Meloche added a goal and an assist and David Printz registered two
assists for Philadelphia, which snapped a two-game losing skid with its first
victory of the season. Antero Niittymaki turned aside 19 of the 22 shots he
faced for the win. Dan Ellis, who registered his first career AHL point with
an assist, made 45 saves in the loss. Tomas Plekanec, who led Hamilton with 43
assists and 66 points last season, scored twice and Ron Hainsey had three
assists for the Bulldogs, who fell to 1-2 on the road. 1
