HARTFORD, CT -- Jason LaBarbera registered 21 saves to help the Hartford Wolf
Pack take their 2004-05 season opener with a 2-1 triumph over the Philadelphia
Phantoms on Saturday. LaBarbera, who had a 34-9-9 record with Hartford last
season, faced only one shot over the first 20 minutes and turned aside all 12
shots he faced in the second period en route to the win. Dominic Moore scored
on the power play and Alexandre Giroux established a 2-0 lead early in the
third for the Wolf Pack, who led the Altantic Division in the 2003-04 campaign
with 102 points. Freddy Meyer netted a man-advantage tally for Philadelphia,
which was held to one shot in a single period for the first time since
November of 2001. Antero Niittymaki made 26 saves in the loss. 1
