WORCESTER, MA -- Ben Eager had a goal and an assist in the second period to
help the Philadelphia Phantoms down the Worcester IceCats, 4-1, on Sunday.
Eager, who was selected 23rd overall by Phonenix in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft,
set up R.J. Umberger 24 seconds into the stanza and tallied his fourth goals
of the season just over five minutes later for a 3-1 cushion. Jon Sim added
two assists to give him five assists and 13 points in eight games this month
for Philadelphia. Antero Niittymaki, who stopped all 28 shots he faced over
the final two periods, made 32 saves to raise his record to 25-17-4 for the
Phantoms, who have won nine of their last 12 on the road. Curtis Sanford gave
up three goals on 29 shots in the loss. Jon DiSalvatore registered his
team-leading 19th goal of the season for Worcester, which was held to one goal
after netting a combined 18 goals over its previous three games.
