WILKES-BARRE, PA -- Ryan Whitney registered a season-high three assists for
the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-1 triumph over the Philadelphia
Phantoms on Saturday. Whitney, a rookie out of Boston University, set up a
power-play strike by Erik Christensen midway through the second period for a
2-0 lead and helped Colby Armstrong score shorthanded with 7:08 remaining in
the stanza. The 22-year-old defenseman capped his night when he assisted on a
power-play marker by Shane Endicott late in the third. Endicott finished with
two points and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 20 shots for Wilkes-Barre, which has
won four straight by a combined score of 20-5. Antero Niittymaki, who was
pulled in favor of Neil Little with 6:21 left in the second period,
surrendered three goals on 15 shots in defeat. R.J. Umberger netted his 13th
goal of the season for Philadelphia, which suffered its fourth consecutive 4-1
defeat and fell to 2-7-0-1 since January 12. 1
