PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Niklas Kornwall scored on the power play and Joey
MacDonald stopped 36 shots for the Grand Rapids Griffins in a 4-1 victory over
the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday. Kornwall established a 3-0 cushion with
help from Todd Robinson 49 seconds into the second period, giving the
defenseman a team-high 33 points (11g, 22a). MacDonald made 12 saves in each
period for the win, raising his record to 17-18-1. Robinson and Bryan Helmer
each registered two assists for Grand Rapids, which improved to 13-1-0-0 when
leading after one period. Randy Jones netted his first power-play goal of the
season for Philadelphia, which has lost three straight by a combined score of
12-3. Antero Niittymaki, who made his eighth start in as many games,
surrendered three goals on 27 shots in the loss. 1
