WILKES-BARRE, PA -- Patrick Sharp scored twice in the shootout as the
Philadelphia Phantoms defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 4-3, on
Saturday. Sharp, who set up a second-period tally by Jon Sim, beat goaltender
Dany Sabourin in both the third and sixth rounds of the shootout for a 1-1 tie
and a 4-3 lead, respectively. R.J. Umberger netted his 11th goal of the season
and Neil Little, who denied the final two players he faced in the shootout,
turned aside 24 shots for Philadelphia, which improved to 5-3 in shootout
contests this year. Sabourin, who stopped all 24 shots he faced after
replacing starter Marc-Andre Fleury midway through the second period,
surrendered goals on each of the final four players he faced in the shootout
to take the loss. Michel Ouellet and Kris Beech each had a goal and an assist
and Tomas Surovy registered two assists for Wilkes-Barre, which has lost three
straight after taking its previous four. 1
