PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Tomas Vanek recorded a goal and an assist as the Rochester
Americans downed the Philadelphia Phantoms, 4-2, on Sunday. Vanek opened the
scoring with his team-leading 15th tally early in the first period and set up
Michael Ryan for an empty-netter late in the contest. Jiri Novotny added a
power-play marker and Ryan Miller, who improved to 17-9-1, turned aside 27
shots for Rochester, which picked up its seventh consecutive victory. Antero Niittymaki surrendered two goals on nine first-period shots and ended with
22 saves in the loss. B.J. Abel and Patrick Sharp each had a goal for
Philadelphia, which fell to 3-4-0-1 when trailing after one period.
