BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Peter White scored late in the second period to help the
Philadelphia Phantoms earn a 1-1 tie with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on
Friday. White, who extended his point-scoring streak to four games, beat
goaltender Dieter Kochan to give his team its first power-play tally of the
season. Antero Niittymaki turned aside 11 of the 12 shots he faced in the
middle stanza and finished with 26 saves for Philadelphia, which improved to
1-0-1-0 on the road this year. Kochan ended with 31 saves in the tie. Martin
Kariya, a product of the University of Maine, netted his first professional
goal for Bridgeport, which remained winless with a mark of 0-2-2-0. 1
