ALBANY, NY -- Joe Hulbig, Matt DeMarchi and Aaron Voros each scored in the
third period to help the Albany River Rats defeat the Philadelphia Phantoms,
5-3, on Friday. Hulbig, who recorded a goal and two assists for the game,
broke a 2-2 tie on the power play 5:42 into the final stanza. DeMarchi
established a two-goal cushion with 7:37 remaining and Voros, who finished
with two points, sealed the victory with an empty-netter. Steve Kariya chipped
in with a goal and two assists and Matus Kostur stopped 23 shots for Albany,
which snapped a four-game losing skid against Philadelphia. Antero Niittymaki
made 27 saves in the loss. Mark Murphy and John Slaney each had a goal and an
assist for the Phantoms, who remain two points ahead of Bridgeport for the
East Division lead. 1
