PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Derek King and Jeff Nelson each scored in the second period
to help the Grand Rapids Griffiths edge the Philadelphia Phantoms, 3-2, on
Sunday. King broke a 1-1 tie 46 seconds into the middle stanza and Nelson
re-established a one-goal lead on the power play midway through the period.
Michel Picard added two assists and Marc Lamothe stopped 22 shots for Grand
Rapids, which scored three goals for the first time in its last seven games.
Neil Little, who was pulled after the second period gave up three goals on 14
shots in the loss. B.J. Abel had a goal and an assist for Philadelphia, which
was held to two goals or less in five consecutive games for the first time
since October 25.
