PROVIDENCE, RI -- Antero Niittymaki recorded his fifth shutout of the season
and John Slaney had four points for the Philadelphia Phantoms in a 4-0 triumph
over the Providence Bruins on Friday. Niittymaki turned aside 26 shots between
the second and third periods and finished with 31 saves, raising his record to
18-10-6. Slaney registered an assist in both the first and second periods and
found the back of the net twice in the third, giving him 15 goals and 35 points
through 46 games. Kirby Law and Peter White each chipped in with two assists
for Philadelphia, which improved to 7-3-1 since February 20. Tim Thomas made 18
saves in the loss for Providence, which was held scoreless for the third time
in as many games. 1
