PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Kirk Furey recorded two goals for the Philadelphia
Phantoms in a 6-1 triumph over the Albany River Rats on Monday. Furey, who
leads the club with a plus 18 rating, opening the scoring 2:09 into the
contest with help from Mark Murphy and established a 2-0 lead on the power
play just over two minutes later. Murphy and Steve Gainey each registered a
goal and two assists and Ben Stafford had a goal and an assist for the second
time in as many games for Philadelphia, which has taken five of its last six
on home ice. Antero Niittymaki made 26 saves to pick up his third victory in
his last five starts. Ari Ari Ahonen fell to 11-21-6 after surrendering six
goals on 35 shots. Craig Darby netted his team-leading 18th goal for Albany,
which dropped to 6-16-6-5 on the road.
