GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- John Slaney had two goals and an assist for the
Philadelphia Phantoms in a 5-3 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffiths on
Sunday. Slaney evened the score at 1-1 on the power play 39 seconds into the
second period, set up a man-advantage tally by Boyd Kane midway through the
stanza and put home his second shorthanded tally in as many games late in the
contest. Boyd Kane recorded a pair of goals and both Freddy Meyer and Peter
White chipped in with two assists for Philadelphia, which has taken four of its
last six. Antero Niittymaki made 25 saves to pick up the win, raising his
record to 15-8-6. Joey MacDonald gave up four goals on 12 second-period shots
and ended with 25 saves in the loss. Jeff Nelson registered a goal and two
assists for Grand Rapids, which had its four-game winning streak snapped. 1
