SPRINGFIELD, MA -- John Slaney scored on the power play with 3:43 gone in
overtime to give the Philadelphia Phantoms a 3-2 triumph over the Springfield
Falcons on Friday. Slaney put a pass from Randy Jones past goaltender Jean-Marc
Pelletier for his first game-winner of the season. Kirby Law, who leads the
team with 16 goals and 40 points, scored twice and finished with three points
for Philadelphia, which improved to 2-1-4 in overtime games this year.
Antero Niittymaki stopped double-digit shots in both the first and second
periods and made 27 total saves for the win, raising his record to 10-7-4.
Pelletier, who spent his first two pro season with the Phantoms, registered 34
saves in the loss. Krystofer Kolanos had a goal and an assist for Springfield,
which has lost seven of its last 10 games.
