Hungarian Words in English
English has borrowed words from most languages over the centuries. Can you guess which words we have borrowed from Hungarian?

Hello--This greeting, perhaps the most common on Earth, is really Hungarian! When Tivadar Puskas uttered his famous
first words over the telephone, "Hallom, hallom!" they were misinterpereted as a greeting.
Paprika--The typical Hungarian coniment have crept its way into the English language via American palates. Yum!

Ruzika--any of a group of alicyclic ketones with 9 to over 30 carbon atoms. Named after Leopold Ruzicka (b. 9/3/1887 Vukov�r, Hungary [now Croatia] - d. 1976)  who invented the stuff for perfumes.
