| Spiderman 2: What can I say? Oh yeah..It was bad. I find it odd how so many people took to this film instantly. It seems they had the predisposition they loved this movie before they saw it(mind my use of the term predisposition, if I used it wrong).Fine, I'l level with you. It was ok, but you don't pay $5 for ok. This movie did have some good things going for it though. One of them being Alfred Molina, who did a fantastic job at playing Doc Ock. This was a breath of fresh air compared to William Dafoe's performance is Noman Osborn(which sucked). The other thing this film had going for it was the plot. The plot is better, more organized, more intriguing, but why do you ask, was it still worse than the first film? Because it had more things pulling it down...down past the lowest point of John Kerrys' chin, straight to entertainment hell! James Franco, what will we do with him. He gives us the same annoying performance as Harry Osborn. The only thing I liked him in...ever, was an episode of the X-Files entitled Surekill, where he is credited as Officer #2. Also we have good 'ol Kirsten Dunst, with her emotionless portrayl of Mary Jane. Kirsten Dunst isn't all bad like Fraco, she still has her moments. This movie was corny like no other. Me no likee corny. Some people do, I don't. I suppose I should tell you what it's about. We start where the first one left off, but this time Spidey(Tobey McGuire, who is actually pretty good) is more aware of his skills. He gets mad, that being a superhero is affecting his relationship with M.J., so he quits. Bad Idea. Crime in the city goes up 80% and Doctor Octavious, who is working on a new energy source(like a mini sun), messes up. He becomes an eight limbed freak, who is bent on killing none other than Spiderman. This plot is filled in with at least thirty close up shots of women screaming in fear(which are quite funny until you realize how many there are) and many cornily dramatic monologues(they're a dime a dozen). I was surprised I didn't like this film. I am a nerd(you should know, your probably named Tony or Gabe, or maybe a Dog Ear bud. if so you should know my nerdiness best!) and I love nerd things: Star Trek(VOYAGER!!), X-Files(SCULLY!) Star Wars(MARK HAMIL?). I actually was in high hopes of going to the official Star Trek Convention and meeting Captain Janeway or ComicCon and hearing Star Wars Episode III's name announced, but this did not appeal to me. |
