Fallen
By: Johnathan M. Cobb

The world ended today ...
but for whom?
Me or her?
I wrote her a letter today.
Poison.
Full of daggers.
When an angel falls
how do you cushion
her landing?
Today
she lost
her wings
and
as I broke
her heart,
her halo shattered.
I will
pay for this
with fire
unquenchable.
I want it
no other way.
Heaven
was silent,
angels wept
at the sight
of
her
descent.
O how you have
fallen
from Heaven
O shining one ...
I want
no forgiveness,
I expect
no redemption ...
no mercy.
Guilty.
The verdict
echoes
through the courts
of Heaven.
I have
nothing to say
in
defense of
what I have done.
My only
prayer
is for my angel ...
that she may
grow wings
again ...
soar once more.
I love her.
Can you tell?
