The cover of The Experience #3 January, 1980

Thanks mainly to John Beers, MC Comics was committed to an incredible "counter-cultural" influence in 1979 (manifest to an insane degree in the bizarre John'stown title). The flourescent colors were welcomed by the readers, but some of the corresponding subject matter was strictly hit-or-miss. One of the more successful titles was The Experience, a liberally interpretive work of art which was originally marketed by John as an "LSD Trip Simulation", years before he would ever experience LSD. Sometimes in this short series run, however, the psychedelic romp was pleasurable and the story line quite coherent, and the book was much more popular than its hippy predecessor Peace Comics. Our only regret twenty years later is that the psychedelic glow doesnt faithfully reproduce in our scans...
