The Cover of Ego Family #1, 1978

Ego Family was an aberration by any standards, yet it exsists regardless. Just as the Curti Girl character was loosely based on an actual student, so was the character "Rayme" derived by John and Scot from their irritation by another, annoyingly ego-centric classmate of theirs. The story was a joint collaboration by John and Scot, though noteworthy is the previously forgotten fact that two editions of this particular EC was published - the first run, which featured original art by Scot, and the second printing, containing art by John, in a sincere attempt to duplicate Scot's particular style. The version in this archive is the second "Scot art rendered by John". Released during the pivotal season Fall, 1978 (during a time when MC as a whole yet faced an undetermined fate), Scot's subject matter is undeniably raw, breaking new ground for EC and all the MC's.
