Greetings citizens! I'm Green Lantern and I'll be your host for this page, containing both John's favorite characters and work by his favorite artists. Like all our pages, it's always growing--so be sure and check back from time to time!

Here he have The Midnighter. He's from a group called The Authority, which is one of the best-selling and socially relevant books on the market. Recommended to all, except young impressionable children. I know what you're thinking---"This guy is just Batman, without the ears!" Well, he's a lot more than that. For one thing, he's mean as hell--if you're a bastard, he won't think twice about torturing you in all sorts of nasty ways. He also has a super-brain that lets him calculate all the moves of a fight, and then counter them, kind of like World Chess Champ Gary Kasparov does when he's playing chess with the bums in Central Park. This factor usually lets him beat you in a fight before a punch is ever thrown. Also, he takes it. For real. He's gay and loves some Superman-clone named Apollo, but that's another story.....
Here we have a promo shot from a series called The Metabarons. It's from France, which would normally make it bad, but it's not at all. The sci-fi/space opera/fantasy saga has only been recently translated into English and released here in the states, and is a must-get, if you can find it. It's been compared alternatively to The Godfather, Star Wars, and all kinds of great stuff. The reason this piece is here, however, is because it's drawn by one of John's favorite artists, a young man by the name of Travis Charest. This is a supremely talented individual, who is basically without peer in terms of quality, if not exactly timeliness. Click on the pic to see the full-size expanded version---it's a real beaut!

Now who's this? Wait a minute--that's me! Yes folks, it is I, the one, true Green Lantern. A classic comic book character who you might remember from the Superfriends TV show, or his "cameo" on Seinfeld, my secret identity is Hal Jordan (don't tell anybody!) I can create literally anything I can imagine with my Power Ring, with two caveats: It is powerless against the color yellow, and I have to charge it once every twenty-four hours, while saying my Green Lantern Oath. I can repeat the oath for you, if you really want... This particular piece is a little sad...it was drawn by legendary artist Gil Kane. It was the last piece he drew before he died earlier last year. A fitting piece though, as he captured all the majesty, power of movement, and dynamism of Green Lantern.

THE RED BARON SAYS: You Americans are lucky the Nazis did not have the so-called "Super-Hero". We would have crushed you, and you would all now be eatling Apple Strudel and wearing leider hosen! Bah!
