In Memory of the best NASCAR champion that ever lived. He will be missed. The black #3 hopefully won't be run again. No one can fill his shoes.
TRIBUTE TO A HERO

As he walks by me
Dressed all in black
He flashes his infamous grin
And heads toward the track

I've just encountered my hero
A man I'd like to be
The mighty Intimidator
The driver of the black number 3

His arm gently resting around Teresa
As he livingly talks with his son
They head toward their cars
And discuss how the race should be won

The festivities are almost over
The anthem has been sung
The drivers strap into their cars
There's a job to be done

The green flag drops at Daytona
The Winston Cup season officially begins
At the track where Earnhardt dominates
As the man with the most wins

The cars strategically maneuver around the track
The competition is going strong
A high-speed, fast-paced chess game
Excited race fans cheer their drivers on

Something amazing has happened
Something I thought I'd never see
Dale has done something uncharacteristic
He's unselfishly blocking for his team

The race is coming to an end
The white flag has been waved
Earnhardt continues to ensure
That a DEI car will win today

They begin to race around turn four
And battle to the checkered
The competitors continuously clash
As Dale Earnhardt proceeds on to heaven

He has gone to join the others
That have went there previously
Kenny, Alan, Adam, Davey, and Neil, among others
Greet the newest member of Heaven's race team

So the next time you hear the thunder
You just might be able to see
As you look toward the heavens
The infamous black number three
