Project Sunfish, 2003 |
I started looking around for a sunfish sailboat around August of 2002, when I asked Aunt Pat to keep her eyes out for one (living on Sconticut neck and all...) she casually mentioned... I have one, you want it? Well, John Fitz picked it up last April and put alot of elbow grease into it, and now I have yet another fine water vessel up at the Mancamp. |

Here's the Sunny on its delivery day. A little roughed up from years of non-use, but Fitz got right to work reconstructing the U.S.S. Fairhaven. He reconstructed the entire rear tiller assembly and patched several of the underlying cracks and such. |

The hull was a bit roughed up, but thanks to a few lbs of marine grade RTV, we reassembled her and she's ready for water! |

Here she is on her maiden voyage on Mancamp Lake. It was not a pretty weekend, but the ice was recently out, she floated fine so there was much sailing to be done! There's fitz on the right with the two sailing cherubs... Laura and Alletta took turns holding the sails. |
