I'm back with two more, and from France this week.
1) mas de la dame, Reserva du Mas 2002 (Les Baux de Provence, France) red - I bought this because it was yet another French province I hadn't tried. When I opened the bottle I liked the bouquet - decent although nondescript to me. The taste was smooth as I expect the label implied however I honestly found it kind of boring. I don't see myself repeating this wine, although there wasn't anything bad about it. A curious factor, this wine made me thirstier than any other wine I've had. It seems to be astringent/diaretic which is sometimes desirable.
2) Chateau des Sources 2000 (Costieres de Nimes, France) red - And yet another province I hadn't tried (this one is a sub-region of Languedoc). I think this is a quality wine, better than the Provence sample. It's very smooth with mild berry flavors, a nice bouquet, and quite a long finish. Yet it's unmistakably French with it's emphasis on the elegant far more than the fruit. I'd say this is very easy to drink, even thirst quenching. Good stuff. Not great, but certainly very good. I do see this as one I could repeat sometimes.
