1) Zabu, Nero D'Avola, 2006 (Sicily, Italy) - A co-worker bought this and we tried it together. Very nice. Interesting bold fruit with nice fuzzy tannins which linger. Although the finish is subtle it lasted long. Interesting grape and fun to try. Easily a 7 out of 10.
2) Louis Jadot, Pinot Noir, 2005 (Burgundy, France) - This is a major export brand of France and they make some high end stuff and plenty of low end. I bought a $15 range version hoping to compare it to the economical US versions. Sorry Louis Jadot but this blew it. The flavor and bouquet were far too mild, although at least I can say it wasn't offensive. Drinking it was easy, BUT, digesting it was a major problem. My gut was messed up the next day. And when I went to try a second glass I could only handle a few sips and then I poured the rest out. So I'm not going to say don't buy this again, because they make such a huge range I'm sure something is better, but I will say that this is a 3 out of 10. It's a poor choice.
3) Fire Station Red, Shiraz, 2003 (California) - Cool brand and label. Somewhat weak shiraz. Yeah I know I complain that it's overdone so much and this isn't overdone. But really I was bored with this drink. Yet it's not offensive, most anyone would drink their glass of it, so 5 out of 10 for low average.
