Wine Drank by John Jaster
I went from tea totaler to Wine Century Club member and have tried 156 different wine grapes in three years.
Cellars Can Blau; La Posta Cocina Blend; Terrazas de los Andes Malbec

Cellars Can Blau, 2007 (Montsant, Spain) - WOW.  What a thoroughly enjoyable wine.  I found this at a higher end Italian store where I find many of my more exotic wines and after I chose it the attendant said it's currently his personal favorite.  The label is a gorgeous slate blue and gold with a mosaic almost cross-like.  The excellent grape blend is Mazuelo (40%) Syrah (40$) Garnacha (20%) and each from specially chosen different growing areas.  Mazuelo by the way is believed to be Carignan however Mazuelo turns out slightly differently for reasons unknown.  What you get in the bottle is a fresh rich complex red which is bold enough to satisfy those who don't like wimpy reds but yet smooth and balanced enough to satisfy those who don't like bold wines.  Nancy thoroughly liked it too and we agreed to showcase it on the next trip to see her parents.  20$ but worth it.  Nancy and I agreed to give it 8 out of 10, a great score.

La Posta, Cocina Blend, 2007 (Mendoza, Argentina) - This charming red is 60% Malbec, 20% Bonarda, 20% Syrah.  Made in a bold rustic style it has lots of muscle and flavor.  If you like the bolder styles of Malbec this wine will please.  6 out of 10 for upper average.

Terrazas de los Andes, Malbec, 2007 (Mendoa, Argentina) - This was a gift from a nice neighbor and that made it all the more enjoyable.  I'll note years ago I reviewed a different Malbec from this same label, it was a Reserve that time although 3 or 4 years older.  When I reviewed the older version I didn't score it very high.  This newer example however we quite liked.  It was well balanced and had good flavor.  I think I commented long ago that it seems I really enjoy Malbec better when it's young and somehow as bottles age and it mellows it appeals to me less.  Perhaps that's why the younger non-reserve version would score higher than the older reserve version of the same grape from the same label.  Anyway I'll score this one a 6 out of 10 for upper average, and I'll note Nancy quite enjoyed this with me.
