Here are 3 Trader Joe's values.
Cristalino, Brut Cava (Spain) - We first tried this at one of our favorite Thai restaurants and Nancy loved it, for the taste, the bubbles, and even the cute individual serving bottle. It took me a while to find it but then Trader Joe's had fully sized bottles for $7 and a sign claiming this is the best selling cava, and indeed the bottle has a sticker saying it was "Value Brand of the Year 3 Consecutive Years Wine & Spirits Magazine". I'm not surprised, it is indeed quality. Granted it's not high end, you can tell it's not a nice champagne, but it fills the nitch of affordable bubbly perfectly and for just $7. I'll give it 6 out of 10 for upper average.
Black Mountain Vineyard, 2006 Chardonnay, Gravel Bar (California) - This simple labelled bottle was only around $4 if I remember right but I have to admit this is one of the better Chardonnays we tried in the last couple of months. It's unbelievable how cheap it is and I plan on stocking up on more. 6 out of 10 for upper average (and it's ironic it's number rating is actually higher than its actual price).
Alexander & Fitch Winery, Alexander Valley Merlot, 2005 (California) - I'd had samples of this brand while shopping in Trader Joe's in the past. Their reds usually have decent flavor and body but are a touch gritty, and the price is humble between $3 to $5. A good value really. Although I'm scoring this 5 out of 10 for lower average unlike other wines where I may use that rating to hint at denegrating them in this case it's the opposite, I'm hinting something one may expect to be below average actually ranked high enough to run with the pack.
