Wine Drank by John Jaster
I went from tea totaler to Wine Century Club member and have tried 156 different wine grapes in three years.
Andreza Loureiro; Adegas de Pegoes; Quinta do Chachao Tinta Barroca

Andreza, Loureiro Escolha, 2006 (Portugal) - This is the only time I found Loureiro as a single varietal and I even lugged it back from Cape Cod for our work tasting group.  On paper it's claimed this is a very aromatic grape with hints of bay leaf.  We got none of that.  Honestly it seemed to be a basic grape juice, more the type of wine you'd use to make a wine spritzer.  Anyway it wasn't bad it just wasn't a stand out in any way.  5 out of 10 for lower average.

Adegas de Pegoes, 2007 (Portugal) - This is a white blend which includes a percentage of Fernao Pires which was new to my list.  I'd say it's just a basic white, maybe a little like the Macabeo I tried but without the bitter.  It's an acceptable white but just 5 out of 10 for lower average.

Quinta do Cachao, Vinho Tinto Colheito, Tinta Barroca, 1999 (Douro, Portugal) - This is one of the oldest dry wines I've tried and in fact I've never seen this grape as a single varietal before.  Some in our wine tasting group were extra excited to sample it, especially considering the age.  The bouqet was very strong and could be detected from another room.  The taste itself was not surprisingly a hint of port wine although it was a little bitter and I'm theorizing the sample was a little too old and had started on that trek of going from wine to vinegar.  Still, it was drinkable, interesting, and I'd bet a younger sample would be pretty good.  This bottle though was 5 out of 10 for lower average.
