I went from tea totaler to Wine Century Club member and have tried 156 different wine grapes in three years.
Warre's Warrior Special Reserve Porto; Rare Wine Co Historic Series Madeira Charleston Sercial

Warre's Warrior, Special Reserve, Porto (Portugal)- In the past I wasn't much of a fan of port because I thought it overblended, plus I didn't really need the extra alcohol content.  This purchase was hoped to find me a better sample and yes it did deliver.  There is a richness to it, plus I'd dare say a complexity  - not simply a nondescript blast of red fruit.  in fact even Nancy liked it and she generally prefers whites or madeiras.  I'll give it a 9 out of 10 and expect to repeat the sample.  I considered a 10 but held back because I still don't think I've experienced the pinnacle of wild world of expensive ports out there.  But great job Warre's, you've made me a fan.

The Rare Wine Co. Historic Series, Madeira, Special Reserve, Charleston Sercial (Portugal) - The driest style of madeira as expressed by blends of very old samples.  Yes it is impressive with it's richness and there's nuts and coffee.  It struck me as most like Apostole 30 year old sherry, and that's good but to be honest I don't think of sherry when I want a madeira.  Obviously my personal preference is for the sweeter bual or malmsey styles of madeira.  I'll go 8 out of 10, and I'll mention Nancy really liked it and in fact finished the bottle and she too usually prefers the sweeter madeiras.  So quality product, just not quite my style.
