Wine Drank by John Jaster
I went from tea totaler to Wine Century Club member and have tried 156 different wine grapes in three years.
dArenberg High Trellis Cab Sauv; dArenberg Stump Jump GSM; J Lohr White Riesling

d'Arenberg, The High Trellis, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005 (McLaren Vale, Australia) - I have a book highlighting the unique personality of wineries in Australia and d'Arenberg was one of them.  This is a $20+ bottle of one of their better varieties.  It has a freshness I've only commented on a few times in a few other wines, and a bold and tasty classic cab.  Delicious but not overdone.  I'm proud to give this an 8 out of 10 because it's a very good product.

d'Arenberg, The Stump Jump, Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvedre, 2006 (McLaren Vale, Australia) - This is a $10-$15 sample and I really taste the difference.  It's still a good wine, decent fruit flavors, but the body is much thinner and reminds me of other mass produced inexpensive wines.  It is what it is, the cheaper range from a winery with other specialties.  5 out of 10 for average.

J. Lohr, Bay Mist, White Riesling, 2006 (Monterey County, California) - This is a quality brand although it's rare their wine blows me away.  This is another typical example.  You get a decent Riesling with nice flavor but it doesn't blow me away.  Nancy really liked it.  It's basically a 5 out of 10 for average.  I'd drink this anytime, it just doesn't stand out.
