Capene Malvolti Prosecco; Blaauwklippen Landau; Nicolis Valpolicella; Chateau Rully
Carpene Malvolti, Prosecco di Conegliano (Italy) - It's a quality white bubbly in an off-dry style but it's really rather unremarkable and I think it's no coincidence this type of wine is used in Bellini's and other mixed drinks. It's simply a 5 out of 10 for lower average.
Blaauwklippen, Landau, Semi-Sweet 2005 (South Africa) - A decent mild white blend, really not as sweet as the label implies, and fairly weak in flavor. It's decent but nothing to cheer about. 5 out of 10 for lower average.
Nicolis, Valpolicella, 2005 (Italy) - This was very highly recommended by a wine store but to be honest it's a rather weak and mild red. There is some cherry - just not nearly enough. 5 out of 10 for lower average.
Chateau de Rully, Comte R. de Ternay, Appelation Rully Controlee, 2001 (France) - This is a Chardonnay from an appelation of France I've never tried before. I remember it was over $20 so I was expecting something special. Nah. It was buttery but rather bitter actually, hints of melon rind. Really I could barely stand this one although Nancy managed to finish it over time. Simply 4 out of 10 for lower average.
