John participates in a subspecialty rotation in Alternative and Complementary Medicine with the Brown University School of Medicine and Rhode Island Hospital. He is co-author of "Teaching Residents About Complementary and Alternative medicine in the United States" published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine; Volume 13, August 1998, and " Steps Toward Massage Therapy Guidelines: A First Report to the Profession" published in the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, Volume 1, Number 1, August 2008.
In addition to his private practice, John also teaches Anatomy and Physiology in the Professional Medical Assistants Program at the Salter School, Fall River, MA.
An avid sculler and sweeps rower at the Narragansett Boat Club, John also enjoys gardening, cycling, canoeing, classical music and beekeeping.
His massage style is an eclectic mixture of relaxation and rehabilitative styles. Techniques most commonly offered are traditional Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, rehabilitative massage, myofascial and neuromuscular massage and soft-tissue injury evaluation.
Spa services for men are offered at least once monthly and include salt scrubs, mud and seaweed wraps and lomilomi massage.
Office hours for massage are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
Rates: $80 for one-hour sessions. Longer sessions available upon request. In-calls preferred. Outcalls on a limited basis with advance notice.
Spa treatments range from $100-$150.
