Our engagement party was held at
the bride's mother and stepfather's house on
Saturday, June, 30th, 2001.
It was so beautiful!
We had 20 people in attendance and
it was absolutely magical.
With all the family helping and chipping in, it was a
truly elegant and lovely evening.

This is the lovely table that was prepared.
We had a food table and a punch table,
but we also had the cut away bar for the cake.

This was the most magical portion of the evening!
John and I
danced together to "Our" song
("I Only Have Eyes For You"--The Flamingoes).
Dancing along with us is my daddy with my stepmother;
my momma with my stepfather;
and Heather(guestbook attendant) with her husband,
Billy(groomsman).

This is John and I with our very close friend and Singles pastor.
Brother Gerald has been such an inspiration to us.
He is a wonderful man of God.
He drove an hour just for our party...
What does that tell you?

This is me and my hero.
The man who has raised me most of my life and
possesses a portion of my heart.
This is my daddy!
He drove 4 hours to come to this engagement party with
my aunt and uncle....what a guy!!

How could I resist but to give my father the biggest smooch?
I love him to death!

Here was our gorgeous cake!
The look was lovely and
the taste was divine!

This became the smoking section of the party!
Going from Left to Right Counter-clockwise:
John's Father, my stepfather(Groomsman),
Little Tony (Groomsman and John's Cousin),
John's Uncle Tony, and John's Aunt Debbie.

This is my future mother-in-law and me.
I think she is absolutely the greatest!

This is the best unprofessional picture I have ever seen
Starting from the left clockwise to the right:
There is me with the black dress on,
my honorary Gramma Bessie Lee,
and my mother.
We are stunning in this photo.

Before throwing a social event,
keep in mind to take time
and bump rear-ends with your
mother and cousin (bridesmaid).

This is one of the few pictures of
John and me actually together!
Aren't we an adorable couple???

This is (left to right) my stepmother, my daddy, and me.
I am so grateful to them for coming to my party!
This couple is too hip to be square!

This is my cousin (also a bridesmaid) and
me anxiously waiting for the guests to arrive!
We spent 2 days straight
preparing for this very moment!

This is me and my lovely guestbook attendant, Heather!
She is just the apple of my eye.
She and I have been through some tough times together
and I could NEVER thank her enough for
the friend she has been to John and me.
She is also an expectant Mommy!

I could NEVER have a page to brag on
without these two!
This is my darling stepfather and angelic little sister
(also a bridesmaid).
These two have profound impact on my life!
I love my little sister..the love of my life!

I had to save the best for last!
John and I are dancing to Our Song.
This is the most precious picture of us I possess.
I love him so much!

So you say you were not at
the Engagement party, eh?

Shame on you! (Just kidding)
We want to share our announcement,
so for you slackers that did not get to come *smile*,
here you go:

*Shauna tinks her glass to announce*
"Guys, we are so glad that you came to our party.
We thank you coming and honoring us here today.
We have an announcement to make.
On May 23, 2002, John got on his knee
and we became engaged.
This is how it happened:
John and I were at youth that night and our pastor,
Gerald, said that we should just go ahead and get married.
Well, we were a little apprehensive, but later that night,
in the parking lot of where I worked,
John looked at me kind of strange.
He looked around and said "The moon is just right,
the breeze is in your hair,
but we are missing something..," then he got on his knee."
(At this point my mother breaks in with
"he had dropped his contact and while he was down there he figured
he'd just go ahead and ask.").
Though distracted (and nervous), I continued with "he asked me to
be his wife and to marry him. I didn't say yes until an hour later...
I was so excited...I forgot!
And so that is why we are here today..
to announce our coming nuptials."

There was a moment of silence, then Charlie broke in with
a sweet toast and then a perverted one!
The only one I can remember is:
"To Shauna and John,
may the only ups and downs in your marriage
take place under the sheets."
