Only in America do we have politics defined so right. poli- meaning many, -tics meaning bloodsuckers!
What the hell is the deal with America's sudden obsession with not my responsibility?  No one wants to take the blame for the actions; they did not make consious choices, rather they were forced into these decisions somehow by the evil corporations of America.  Huh?  I never thought any of my mistakes were the fault of others except when they actually acted in a manner that blatantly caused my mistake.  Now Americans want to blame eveyone involved in the mistake instead of the one making the mistake.  We want to sue McDonald's because their burgers are unhealthy, gun manufacturers because they make guns, cigerette companies because their product is addictive, and the list goes on and on.  We cannot see that we make the choices that lead to those behaviors and those choices were ours.  No corporation told us to buy Big Macs, guns, Malboro, or any other product that is not healthy for us in some way.  We choose to buy it, so we should choose to take responsibility for our own actions; after all, they are ours!
Why do politicians attack the man or party?  They do not attack a man based on his decisions or his vote.  Why bother?  When you can simply attack a person for being a Democrat or a Republican depending on your persuasion.  Plus they do not attack a position as unpopular; they attack the man because he is popular or my opposite.  Dean has made plenty of gold just on attacking Bush and standing up against him.  I can commend that position if you are willing to present different options, but Dean does not.  He only says that Bush did the wrong thing.  Well shit I could say that, but no one is busting down my door to make me a candidate for president.  This change in political climate has also caused many democrats to gang up and attack Dean because he is the front runner, not because of his position.  What the hell happened to making arguments against a man based on his decisions not just an ad hoc approach to the attacks.  What is it with Americans' weak spine?  Most people wanted to spread democracy and to ensure our safety by removing Saddam, but now that the road has gotten hard they are balking.  They balk everytime they see a report about a poor American child die.  Damn, these Iraqi people lost sons and daughters too.  That is not the point war results in death.  Honestly that is what we are in, not some easy clean up mission.  Democracy is a long and hard process to create. Hell it took us nearly a decade to figure out the Constitution and another ten to create the Bill of Rights that all Americans hold up as a test to our democracy's strength.  That democracy was hard won; it cost blood, sweat, tears, hardships and many other unpleasant things.  All those costs made the product all the sweeter.  A product that has lost sweetness to a lot of Americans because we have 200 years without paying for it.  Here we are presented with the opportunity to produce that sweet fruit for another citizen body; should really balk at the cost, especially if we balk now that fruit will be even harder to tend because of the questionable decision we made in the first place.  So if you did support the war, continue to support the effort is far from over.  If you wanted peace from the beginning now the opportunity for peace comes from holding to the current road.  Going back only insures that peace is that much harder to achieve in our lifetime.
I find it appalling that my congressman has sponsored legeslation that ties the hands of the Supreme Court and other federal courts to enforce their decisions.  Mr. Hostetler signed a bill that restricted money to the enforcement of decisions of the Supreme Court, such as removing the Ten Commandments from a display in front of a courthouse.  So basically the message he sends to the Federal Court System is enforce the laws we make our else you will have to find some other means to pay for enforcing your decisions.  This is only a small leap from completely tying up the court so that it cannot perform the function that tradition and the Constitution established for it.  Thank you Mr. Hostetler for infringing on the Supreme Court's authority!
