Power Windows

My car did not have power windows so I decided to add them later.  The power window motors are easily removed from the frame by drilling out the rivets.  I got map pockets to cover the holes in the door panels.  It was quite an easy procedure   with the outer door skin removed.  It still can be done with the outer skin still on however. I got most of my information from http://www.tir.com/~jaski/pw_pl_install.htm, the Michigan Fiero Club page.  After completion, you would never guess they were added.  One very good piece of advice while the windows are out, REPLACE YOUR DEW WIPES.  Those scratches up and down you windows are caused by worn wipes.  They are a PAIN to replace later. (See my DEW TOOL which helps taking them out with the door glass still in.)

Here is the door stripped of the window glass, power motors and tracks.   I used the wiring harness from the old car          for mine. Another option would to have just switched doors but this could have caused alignment problems.

The map pockets were put over the window crank holes.

The new plate was installed with the power window switches.

The old switches and plate were well worn but they look brand new after spraying them with flat back trim paint.

Soaking them with WD-40 will clean the contacts so they work like new too!

I didn't change my dew wipes when I had everything apart.  Of course,

a little while later the scratches really started to appear on the glass.

This little modified jeweler's screwdriver allows you to get at the screws

behind the glass.
