Remember shopping in your town with the music from the stores like Murphys, McCrorys, W.T. Grants filtering out onto the sidewalks and the inside of the stores being totally decked out for Christmas?

Remember when all the stores in town closed exactly at 5 PM on Christmas Eve, no exceptions and the mad rush of the husbands/boyfriends shopping for their wives and girlfriends?

Remember when the Merry Christmas greeting was considered a warm hello of good wishes?

Remember when the elementary schools had their Christmas plays with Christmas carols being sung by every child and teacher?

Remember when Merry Christmas was boldly put on the schools monthly menu?

Remember Christmas vacation was called Christmas vacation?

Remember when carolers walked the streets boldly singing "Joy to the World"?

Remember when each town carefully placed the Nativity for all to see in front of their court house or the town park?

Remember spending wonderful Christmas days at grandma's house because she lived in the same neighborhood as well as aunts and uncles?

Remember all the TV programs would do a special Christmas program?
    
Remember the wonderful Christmas specials with Andy Williams, Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and a host of others?

Remember when returning to school there was a special day set aside for you to bring in one of your Christmas gifts to play with and share with others?

Remember your local church having a Christmas pageant with the cast consisting of your neighbors?

Remember families gathering at grandparents house for the big Christmas dinner?

Remember Christmas being a time for the treat of oranges/tangerines?

Remember the big box of chocolate that was not opened until Christmas eve?

Remember the clear colorful candy on a stick shaped like toys?

Remember the ribbon candy that you felt for sure would slice your tongue while eating it?

Remember the mysterious packages that always appeared and were soon whisked to their hiding places?

Remember the anticipation, the long Christmas Eve and getting up so early you actually seen day breaking?

Remember the cellophane wreaths with electric candles that adorned  most windows in the home?

Remember the wonderful cardboard fake fireplaces that seem to be real with the soft glow of the orange bulb that burned within?

Remember trimming the tree with glass bulbs that you hoped would not hit the floor?

Remember the string of lights that when one burned out, all the lights went out?

Remember the bowlful of walnuts and the nutcracker handy in case someone wanted to indulge?

Remember watching the adults make old-fashion egg nog and drinking it?

Remember when no one questioned if it was ok to say Merry Christmas?
