If you are not attending a church, let this Christmas Eve be  a new beginning.   Take your children to church, find a home church and become part of it.   Do not forsake assembly with others.    Let's not forget the reason for the season, to celebrate the birth of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!
Do some baking with the children.   I always make up my dough ahead of time and freeze it.  Bake rolled sugar cookies and let the children decorate.  Kids love this.  And build a snowman with the kids.

Decorating the house can be very frustrating.   Always do your outside decorating before the weather turns cold.   I put up the lights but do not turn them on until after Thanksgiving.     If you tend to stress out about the holidays, keep your decorating simple.   A big wreath on the door and a few lights or candles in the window create a homey festive atmosphere.    Garland on fences and around doorways also create a simple but welcoming sight.  To set a festive dinner table check out Goodwill stores and other 2nd hand stores.
The tree can be the easiest decoration.  But be sure and have enough light strands for a well lit tree is beautiful by itself.   I like my tree to sparkle.    I use jewelry (beads, large earings, pins etc.)   Tuck some silk flowers in your tree, be creative and you will enjoy making your tree unique.    Don't wait until the last minute to decorate your tree.

Don't forget those mantles.   I put my Christmas village on my mantle but they can be decorated with stockings, garland,  cards, small trees.   I take strings of mini lights and lay them on top.  It can also hold past Christmas toys, decorations etc.
Dont' forget to decorate
the lamp post.
REMEMBER WHEN IT COMES TO DECORATING, IF YOU LIKE IT, THAT'S ALL THE MATTERS.   IT'S FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT AND JUST GO FOR IT.
