Deed of William Barrett to John Loy

     This Indenture made the third day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and seventy nine BETWEEN William Barrett of Frederick County in the State of Virginia of the First Part and John Loy of the same place of the other part WITNESSETH that the said William Barrett for and in consideration of the sum of seventy pounds Virginia current money to him in hand paid by the said John Loy at or before the sealing and deliver of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and for other good causes and considerations (sic) him the said William Barrett hereunto moving hath granted, Bargained, Sold, Aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth Grant, Bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said John Loy and his Heirs and assigns a certain Tract or parcel of Land situate in the said County of Frederick and bounded as followeth BEGINNING at two pine saplings and a hickory on the West Side of Babbfs Creek the beginning corner to Darby Reagans land T hence with his line So 82h30W 210 poles crossing the said Babbs Creek to a Spanish Oak on the No side of a ridge in another of the said Darby Reagans lines Thence along the same No3 E 102 poles crossing the said Babbs Creek to the beginning containing one hundred and forty seven acres more or less, which said land was granted to the said Darby Reagan by deed from the Proprieters Office and by the said (sic) conveyed to the said William Barrett as will appear by the records of the said County Court, together with all the appurtenances and Hereditaments to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining.  TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said lands Hereditaments and premises hereby intended to be bargained and sold to the said John Loy his Heirs and assigns, to the only proper USE and behoof of him the said John Loy and of his Heirs an assigns forever and the said William Barrett for himself his Heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise and grant to and with the said John Loy his Heirs and assigns that he the said William Barrett, and his heirs the said Land Hereditaments and appurtenances to the said John Loy and his Heirs against the claims of him the said William Barrett, and against the claim or demand of his Heirs and of all and every other person and persons whatsoever shall warrant and forever defend by these presents.  IN WITNESS whereof the said William Barrett hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and year first above written.
