STORY
Description of Unit:
First the students will choose a city and begin research. Research will include the history of historical places/monuments, culture/traditions, literature connections, and people (past and/or present) connected with the city.
As students gather information they will make a list of at least five different historical places/monuments that could be found in the city. Students will then print out a picture of each place/monument. Each picture will include the historical information on the back.
Culture and traditions make a European city unique. Students will next gather three pictures that best describe the culture/tradition of that particular city. Again, the information that describes the culture/tradition will be included on the back of the picture.
Students will next gather literature connections and people connected with the city. European cities are rich in literature. One writer or famous book associated with the city will be included. Last, students will research four famous people from the past and/or present who are connected with the city and include them in the digital story.
Digital Story:
Using PhotoStory, a digital story will then be created with the information gathered. Photos that best describe the historical places/monuments, culture/traditions, literature connections and people (past and/or present) will be included. Students will use a maximum of 15 pictures.
After pictures are added students will include narration. Narration must clearly describe all elements of the unit. For extra credit, students may include music in the presentation.
