Back to El Chaltén
Although the last day in the park couldn't easily beat the day before, it was quite pleasant too. The Piedras Blancas were impressive and the rest of the day was just a demonstration of natural variety. The Laguna Capri on the way back to El Chaltén provided a mixed feeling of Swedish archipelago and mountains (see above left), while at the same time being surrounded by western-like steep hills. The valley beyond El Chaltén to the west, on the other hand, appeared more like a flowery Alp valley (see above right). The last kilometres of the path back to El Chaltén was just a wonder of cosiness. We met huge woodpeckers in the shady forests (see below) and found small meadows inside the forrest that hosted local horses. In some ways it felt a bit too early to leave the area, considering that the weather was still tremendous, but since we had already ordered seats for the bus back we decided to put an excellent end to our Patagonian adventure at this point.
