Why I love music & about some of the artists I like.

For some persons music is something you just listen to
in the background or simply dance to. I'm not that
kind of person. I also want to studdy the music, feel it
under my skin and for me music is like a healing power,
something I simply can't live without! When you're sad
the music can make you happy and when you're happy, the
music can highlight your happiness even more. I like many
kinds of music. I don't think you should limit yourself by
say "I only listen to this music genre". I've tried them all
and I've found my personal favorites in each of them. However
here I present some artists and bands I love even more than
the others. Please enjoy this journey...


Sarah Brightman is... 
(crossover music/pop/dance/opera...)

�  a singer from England with a long career behind her.
Many many years ago she was a music discoverer and 
tried almost every music genre.
 She accidently got into the musical world, despite 
the fact that she didn�t really like that kind of music. 
She had a small role in �Cats� and later she got the 
leading role in the "Opera-light" musical called 
�The Phantom of the Opera� This music extravaganza was 
specifically written for her  voice by her husband 
Andrew Lloyd Webber.
As in so many marriages love didn�t last and Sarah 
continued her musical journey. She met
producer and songwriter Frank Peterson and fell in 
love with both him and his music.
After working a final time with her  x-husband 
Webber on the musical album �Surrender�,
Sarah started her new career.  Together with her new boyfriend, 
Mr Peterson, she recorded a
Pop album- �Dive�. It was followed by the more experimental 
album �Fly�. Not �Dive� nor �Fly� did very well and many 
though Sarah had left the commersial music scene completelly, 
when she in 1997 released her biggest hit today- the album 
�Timeless� (called �Time To Say Goodbye� in the US).
The album featured classical pieces mixed with apop feeling. 
The album was a big hit all over the world.
The following year Sarah retured triumphantly with her best 
album to date- �Eden�.
She presented a new dary image with loads of makeup, black hair 
to the waist and fantastic stage costumes.
�Eden� was the result of her musical journey and here 
you could find all music elements mixed to a dark haunting 
and yet calm and peaceful album. Sarah now  embarked on 
her huge worldtour �One Night In Eden� .
One year later Sarah released her latest album �La Luna�. 
Many fans really like Sarah�s new direction, while some 
miss her more underground sound that not too many people 
are familar with.

Vacuum are...
(synthpop/pop)

�now only Mattias Lindblom-vocals and 
Marina Schiptjenko-keyboards.
The band was formem after the fact that 
Alexander Bard quit Army of Lovers
And wanted a new, more strict band. He met 
Mattias on a party and they
started playing together. However they didn�t 
like beeing alone and one
day Alexander was a guest in the TV show 
�Tryck tyck� on ZTV (a music channel)
and here he met Marina Schiptjenko from 
Page (should be said with a french touch!)
They got along very well and Alexander got 
to know that Marina wanted to move on
artistically and was looking for a band in 
Vacuum style. Some weeks later Vacuum
was formed and in 1996 they released their 
debut single �I Breathe�. This song
was an instant hit in Sweden and the nordic 
countries as well as in Italy. Their first 
album-the bombastic �The Plutonium Cathedral� 
was really a good debut album, but it had 
little sucess where it was released.
Vacuum wanted to go more pop and less symphonic 
with their 2nd album. However when it was 
finished the record company didn�t belive in 
it and didn�t release it in most countries. 
The album(called �Seance at the chaebol�) was 
however released in Russia and here  Vacuum 
members were hailed as the biggest popstars. 
They did several sold out tours there and 
appeared on TV and in magazines every now 
and then.
While touring Russia Alexander Bard left the 
band to work on some new projects and simply 
be a manager, producer and songwriter. Vacuum 
started remixing the album to make it more suitable 
for the european market and they recorded new songs
 as well. The final edition is ready, is called 
�The Culture of Night� and is still not released� 
It�s a great album and the new single �Icaros� 
is a bomb!

Mylene Farmer is... 
(pop/rock/dance/new age)

� a french singer. She is a mega-star 
in the french-speaking countries, but in 
most of the world she�s completally unknown 
for most people. She�s famous for her fantastic 
way of writing lyrics. In every song she 
explores life and every song is a small 
masterpiece telling a story.  She�s a very 
mysterious person which is reflected in her 
music. Some tracks are like an angelic piece 
of music, while the next song can be brutal and 
rough. She�s most famous for her albums 
�Ansi Sois Je�, � L�Autre�, �Anamorphos�e� & 
�Innamoramento�.
She�s also very famous for her music videos. 
Each of them tells a story (just lie the songs 
themselves) and they are usually shot in visually 
extravagant ways reminding of a film frorm the past. 
Myl�ne likes to perform and her tours are like 
great cabaret-shows. Her clothes are fantastic 
and she is a very beautiful person and her 
dancing is simply stunning.
For all her records Myl�ne has been working 
with  Laurent Boutonnat. Together they create 
really beautiful music with a cetain depth 
you can�t find anywher else.

Dana International is...
(dance/pop)

... a singer from Israel. Over there she is huge 
and all her albums have been huge hits.
In 1998 she participated and won Eurovision Song
Contest with her super-hit "Diva" despite
the fact that she doesn't seem to be too interested
in this song. She has released the albums "Dana
International", "Umpatampa", "EP-Tampa", "Maganona"
"Diva-the collection" and "Free" in Israel but in Europe
her fame has still not awaken. Her singles "Woman In Love"
and "Free" didn't have any impact on the charts and her
international album "free" was withdrawn in most countries.
Dana is determined to have sucess and is currently working
for a new album.
She is a great performer and loves to dress up in concerts.
Her live performances includes clothes from Gaultier, 
featherboas,extensions and a lot of funny things. Dana
sings in Hebrew, Arabic, English, French & Italian
and she loves to entertain the audience.

Emma Shapplin is...

(crossover artist)

After Sarah Brightman made her fame as the
first artist mixing new music with
ancient music many followed in her footsteps.
One of them is Emma Shapplin-a joung girl from
France with a very strong voice. Her album
"Carmine Meo" features newwritten songs produced
in a new way, but sung in old Italian and in latin.
Her debut single "Spente Le Stelle" was a hit in many
countries and her album was a big hit in more continental
countries. "Carmine Meo" will be released in the US within
some time. For the moment Emma is recording a new album
with the workingtitle "Carmine Meo 2....".
Emma has been a mode, a methal singer but thought that
kind of music wasn't suitable for her. It was too much
"screaming" she once said and she chose to do something
else. Something more sofisticated, but still very bombastic.

Alcazar is... 
(dance/pop)

...glory, glamour and gold. But in a very 
sofisticated way. They do the kind of music 
they are obsessed with themselves-dance music 
with an attitude- and they surely know how to 
sing, dance and dress!
Alcazar are Andreas Lundstedt, Annika Fiore & 
Tess. Andreas has a long career behind him. 
He started with participating two times in 
pre-eurovision. One time he won with �Driver 
Dagg Faller Regn� (if there is frost-the rain 
will fall) and one time he failed with the 
bittersweet �Jag Saknar Dig� (I miss U). He 
also recored a solo album that was never released. 
Only a first single with the bit strange title 
�Heya-Heya� was released but it had little sucess. 
In the video to this song Andreas shows a very 
diffrent and more down to earth side of himself.
Annika Fiore has been singing since she was a child. 
She is a personal that simply sparkles with 
glamour and beauty and she has a strong voice with 
a lot of power to it. She�s been singing in E-Type 
and had a role in �ABBA-the true story� that was 
played in Stockholm some years ago.
Both Andreas and Annika have been friends for
 a long time and together with their fiend 
�the crazy Tess-they are a very homogenic trio. 
They like to dress up and they do it fun but 
with style.
Their debut album �Casino� is a collection 
of great songs. They got a hit in Finland with 
their 2nd single �Crying at the Discoteque� and 
their 3rd single �Don�t Leave Me Alone� is a 
powerful and moody song that really deservs 
to be a hit all over the world!
On the album you can also find some more 
experimental songs. Andreas song �Blues in 
G-minor� is a very interesting song. It starts 
very repetative and experimental and then grows 
and grows. The slow song �Tears of a Clone� is 
Vacuum-esque and is sung with a lot of passion 
by Andreas. It starts minimalistic, then gain power.
Alcazar have been touring this summer and are 
probably working on their new album.

Pet Shop Boys are... 
(dance)

� a duo. Neil Tennant is the vocalist and Chris Lowe 
is the keyboardplayer. They�ve made a lot of albums 
and for the moment they are big, but they have not 
always been loved by the audience and the press. In 
the 80s they had a bunch of hits (West End Girls, 
It�s A Sin, Rent, Beeing Boring and more..) but their 
best work �Very� did not become a huge sucess, nor did 
their english/spanish album Billingual. They returned 
however with the kitch-song �New York City Boy� and the 
quite good album Nightlife�.
One of their best albums is their least famous one. 
It�s called �Alternative� and is a 2 CD collection 
of their b-sides. These songs are mostly quite uncommersial, 
but interesting and sometimes lyrically very funny.
The Pet Shop Boys are now working on a new album.

Madonna is... 
(pop/electronic)

�. A phenomenon and constantly changing musically and visually.
She started as a quite immature little girlie and is today 
one of the most dominating women in music history.
She started as a backupsinger to a german singer called 
Otto, later she released her debut album �The First Album�, 
including some (not very good ) disco-songs�
She carried on with her hit albums �Like A Virgin�  
and �True Blue�, but it wasn�t �till her more personal 
albums �Like A Prayer�, �Erotica�, �Bedtime Stories� 
and most of all �Ray of Light� that she did become an 
interesting singer and songwriter. Her  album �Ray of Light� 
is a deep exploring of herself and a way of looking back 
on her career. Madonna is now writing for her new album 
�Music� that is said to be more minimalistic and dark.

Kate Bush is... 
(crossover singer/pop)

� gone!!! It seems she�ll never record a new album and 
this is a great loss for the music industry.
As a teenager she made her debut with �Wuthering Heights�-
a crazy song sung in a voice noone really can have.Kate Bush 
has a very high voice that can be childish, crule, sexy or 
cold. It all depends on the song. She can create the perfect 
mood with her voice and she always knows how to sing a song.
Kate Bush was the queen of originality and now it seems she�s 
left the music world in sorrow.
Her last album was �The Red Shoe�, a timeless and 
original album that marks the end of her adventure.

Depeche Mode was... 
(synth/rock)

�a big synth band in the old days, but nowadays they are 
more to be seen as a rock band. They�ve had many #1s 
throughout the years despite the fact that they are anything 
but super commersial. When they were at the top of their 
career (�Violater� and �The Songs of Faith & Devotion�) they 
got many prolems in their personal life (drugs, alcoholism, 
deep depression,) and the member Alan Wilde left the band 
to form a new one called Recoil (who recently released a new 
album featuring vocals from Diamanda G�las).
Depeche mode had a huge break before finally releasing 
�Ultra� as a trio. Today the band is David Gahan-vocals, 
Martin Lee Gore-vocals, keyboards & Andy Fletcher-keyboards.
Recently they  released a �Greatest Hits� album and rumours 
has it that a new album is on its way�.

Army of Lovers... 
(pop/dance/chanson/unique)

� don�t need too much introduction. 
The band entertained, provoked, made 
you happy or angry. Their albums contain 
music mostly written by long time writing 
partners Alexaner Bard & Anders Wollbeck. 
The members have been diffrent in the past 
years. Alexander Bard,Jean Pierre Barda, 
Michaela Dornonville De La Cour, Dominika 
Peczynski and the angry La Camilla 
(Camilla Henemark).
They ended their career but rumours has 
it they will return really really soon�.
