| Wassail Wassail is a traditional holiday drink. I don't think this is a traditional recipe, though. But it's pretty yummy nonetheless, and it makes the house smell really, really good. It also makes a LOT. Invite friends over to share. You will need: Orange Juice Apple Juice Cranberry Juice One orange Three lemons Cinnamon sticks Whole cloves Sugar A big spoon A big pot In the big pot, combine equal parts orange juice, apple juice, and cranberry juice. Add the juice of two of the lemons. If you're lazy, skip juicing the lemons and add a glug of ReaLemon concentrate instead. Add about a cup of sugar, four or five cinnamon sticks, and ten whole cloves to the pot. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Taste it. Adjust the sugar and spices as needed. Keep in mind that you can only adjust up, not down. Sometimes, less is more. Slice the orange and the lemon and add to the pot. Heat until the fruit looks all wilty and the wassail is steaming. Don't boil it unless you want syrup instead of wassail. |
