Week Five: Religous Faith
1) One paragraph summary of the key idea summarizing the topic of the week.
One way of seeing the Faith of Jesus is looking at his teachings. When a rich man asks Jesus what he needs to be saved, he tells them to obey the Ten Commandments (Mt. 19:16-22). When the Pharisees asked Him what the greatest commandment was, he told them "Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, mind, and soul" (Mt. 22: 34-40). Jesus said that when the day of judgementg comes, people will be judged on how they treated the needy, because Jesus identifies Himself of those people (Mt. 25). In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives his followers the Beatitudes. He says that blessed are the poor in spirit, the meek, the merciful, the peace makers, the sorrowing, those who hunger and thirst for holiness, the single-hearted, and those persecuted for holiness's saked. He tells his disciples that their role is to be salt of the earth and light of the World. He says that he is nolt abolishing the laws, but rather fulfilling them. He says that when you pray, fast, or give alms, you should not draw attention to yourself. He tells them that if they want to avoid judgement they need to stop passing judgement, He says that anyone who hears His words and puts them into action are like the wise man who built his house upon rock. O' Malley tells us that the sole unforgivable sin was having an obtuse spirit, that is, to be close-minded and not admit to your own sins. He says all we need to do to receive God's unconditional love and forgiveness is admit our need for forgiveness.
2) List and explain three of the most important ideas you want to remember from this week.
1.) An Obstuse Spirit- I need to realize that I at times don't pay attention to the sins I am committing.
2.) The criteria at the "judgement of nations"- We will be judged on how we treated the needy
3.) Joseph A. Tetlow's "Praying with Scripture"- Using Contemplation, Meditation, and Consideration to dive deeper into the meaning of the Scriptures. Also, that by reading a section of the bible for more than a few minutes, I am in prayer
3) One image of that reminds you of the topic. Attribute, link, your source.

Return of the Prodigal Son
4) One good question you should keep with you to ponder.
In the prodigal son parable, is Jesus trying to say that parents should treat their children like the forgiving father?
5) What should you try to do to make you a better person, a more faithful person, form this study?
I realized that in order to really learn more about Jesus I need to read the Bible and pay attention more during the Liturgy of the Word. I think that by reading the bible I will be able to follow along with the mass better, and by listening at mass, I will gain a deeper understanding of what I read in the Bible.
