Experience AIST, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan 4/2001-present
JST Research Scientist
•   At the National Institute for Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Nanoarchitectonics Research Center, I am involved in a project utilizing Slab Optical Waveguide (SOWG) Spectroscopy and Electrochemistry in studying the adsorption of proteins and dyes on surfaces. My responsibilities include full time laboratory work, processing and analysis of experimental data as well as writing of papers and articles for conferences and contributions or submissions to journals.
University of the Philippines Los Banos, College Laguna Philippines 8/1996-3/2001
Assistant Professor
•   I prepared teaching materials and delivered lectures in undergraduate and graduate level analytical chemistry, environmental and electrochemistry courses. I also supervised research staff and students and performed other research-related activities and participated in extension activities of the Institute.
IISE, Cebu Philippines 8/1999-5/2001
Consultant for IER, EMS and P2/CP
•   IISE stands for Industrial Initiatives for Sustainable Environment. While a consultant, I conducted Initial Environmental Reviews (IER) and gave technical advise on Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Pollution Prevention-Cleaner Production (P2/CP) at industrial facilities that were expected to have considerable potential to reduce pollution and risk to the environment and human health. I was also involved in the establishment of the scope and direction of IISE's support and allocation of project resource to these facilities.
Dublin City University, Dublin Ireland 9/1997-10/1998
Postdoctoral Research Assistant
•   I was a member of the team developing novel electrochemical sensors for environmental and biomedical applications. My one-year assignment allowed me to develop a mercury-free anodic stripping voltammetric method for the determination of lead based on polyaniline-modified glassy carbon electrodes.
UPLB-IC Analytical Chemistry Div., College Laguna Philippines 5/1996-9/1997
Division Head
•   I supervised the division in charge of implementing analytical services, instruction and researches on analytical and environmental chemistry.
Dept of Health, Philippines, Manila Philippines 7/1996-9/1997
