The Nite Crawler Nerve

Operatives Goodspeed, Wevil, and Vladimir Putin met at an early age. By Kindergarten, Goodpseed and Putin were already plotting terror on the playground. By elementary school, Putin and other agents had memorized the Hardy Boy Detective Handbook from cover to cover and became masters of surveillance and espionage tactics. Again, many of these methods were refined at recess from class, while our peers would innocently play. The current syndicate owes its organizational roots to a preceding organization that will only be described by the initials BCI. Its exact nature is so classified that its very initials have only finally now been released to the public, almost a decade later. Speaking generally, the BCI was an intelligence gathering apparatus of a limited scope. It lacked any of the crudest technological capabilities that we now take for granted and relied heavily on human intelligence. The only action to be declassified from the BCI files before their destruction and incineration was to provide first hand intelligence on the massive flood of February 1996. And despite early predictions and warnings to evacuate based on observations by BCI staff, thousands of dollars in damages were incurred. The group known as Nite Crawlers formally came to exist in 1996. It absorbed much of the personnel, equipment, and facilities of the BCI. Its jurisdiction and area of deployment enlarged substantially. The name was chosen primarily after an incident where on a routine training mission, agents were pinned down in a field by the unexpected arrival of a civilian. Those agents, to avoid further detection and possible response by law enforcement resorted to crawling on their bellies in total silence and darkness the distance of several city blocks until they reached an intersecting road. The incident became a great source of pride, closely guarded from outsiders, and became the obvious choice for a new name. When the Nite Crawlers took over administration of BCI, it gained possession of more than just a tool shed. Complimenting the shed, was a private 120 acre training facility known only as "The Farm." Its secluded terrain provided a variety of conditions and environments, ranging from woods, swamps, and hilltops. It also facilitated limited structural training opportunities. At this time, the former BCI installations on a remote ridge top were abandoned, including several command and control bunkers and a rocket launch site. In April of 2000, the Nite Crawlers went online with this website. (Actually the original HTML was written on my new laptop while on a family road trip to Portland, but I dont think anyone really cares) At the time, it suited the needs of the organizations' primary focus: urban exploration. It prospered for some time and even received mixed praise and criticism of our style. Some in the urban exploration community regarded our militaristic procedure as being melodramatic. Dramatics aside, these very protocols kept our operatives safe on deployment, unlike many explorers who exercise no caution and are frequently apprehended by authorities. Our organization, while having several close encounters, which will remain classified at this time, has never once been caught to date. However, in late 2001 for undisclosed reasons the organization severed ties to the outside world, which included our website. No new operations have been posted since that time and all operational details about the organization have been censored or removed entirely. While none of our truly high risk operations were ever posted online, those that were publicly available were trimmed down to only a few that remain for your viewing pleasure today. Our focus has shifted from urban exploration since that time. Not to say that our deployments have ceased, instead nothing further is being posted online in public domain. This page is left online only for archival purposes. The core operatives remain active in their endeavors, with a territory that encompasses much of the Pacific Northwest. Our technology has continued to improve, facilitating improved communications over long distances. The tool shed was demolished several years ago and most recently The Farm was reduced in size to 80 acres, which included the loss of the remains of the BCI complex. Also, for a multitude of reasons, many of our loosely affiliated associates over the years have chosen to pursue other interests and have fallen out of regular contact. Some may have been intentionally excommunicated permanently from our syndicate. Change is inevitable, bridges will be burned, life goes on. Long live the Nite Crawlers. [Last update June 17, 2005.]
