Altoona and Knaptonn Ghost Towns

After research on the Internet, we discovered the existence of several ghost towns on the Columbia River. Intelligence analysts then consulted satellite photos and topo maps to determine what actually remained of these communities. And of course then we planned a road trip to discover the ruins of the towns of Altoona and Knaptonn...

Altoona is located at the end of a 8 mile long dead end road. The locals don't appreciate tourism apparently.
	A rotting dock that is defying all laws of physics by still floating. Operative Nova tried to walk out on it, but slipped on its wet surface with predictable results.
This is all that remains of a once bustling cannery. The gravel road in the foreground was in poor shape.
	An intact building. Stare hard because this was one of few still standing buildings. Being within 15 feet of the shore of the Columbia River definitely speeds up the decay process.
One of a small handful of abandoned homes on a hill overlooking the river. Caution to anyone visiting Altoona: it is very hard to distinguish which homes are and are not abandoned...
