Understanding Language
Language is paradoxical. Language is many things but on the other hand it means nothing. Such as words that have meaning and stay with that meaning for a long time, then other words which then die out and no longer have meaning.
Languages change over time and distance. For example, english has been influenced by many languages. the word adjure, coyote, canyon or dictate. This shows that english vocabulary has been influenced by many languages from all over. Children make their own grammar choices. For example, young children changed the word eyen to eyes and another example is that oxes is changed to oxen. This shows that children make up new words of the english language everyday. Teens make up slang words for the english language. For example "tight" is a word that describes something being cool. Another example is the word "fool" teens call their friends this. This shows that teens use different words to describe different things.
Language is a very powerful thing. For example, you need to speak a language to communicate with others. However if you dont speak a language you cant express your feelings or say what you have to say. This shows that it is impossible to not speak a language. Every language has it's own code. For example, different people can speak different codes such as english, spanish etc. However the less codes you know the less you understand different languages. This shows that if a person doesn't know a code that person's communication ability is limited. Language is arbitrary:sounds words and even sentences have no meaning until humans give them meaning. For example, language sounds have no meaning by themeselves. However different letters have different sounds. This shows that sounds will change in the future.
Words have no meaning untill humans give them meaning. For example, the word "bozak" ment nothing until Mr. Girard gave it meaning as being a good person and the word "slingak" now means the gum under a desk.This shows that anybody can make up a word and give it meaning. Syntax is very important to any language. For example, " I wear shirt blue" doesn't make sense but we still understand it. However things might not sound right or might even sound funny. This shows that there is a special way of putting words together.
Language will continue to change and languages will continue to die and will also be born. New words and maybe letters will produce in every language in the future. Language is an importantthing to know and teach in the future.
