Reflection Letter
This year my english class taught me alot of lessons. It was also a good experience for me. In the following paragraphs I will be explaining the likes and dislikes of this year and the work that was assingned to me. I will also be discussing the assignments that I believed helped me improve my reading and my writing and the assignments that I believe we should'nt have done.
My expectations for this years english class were basically to do all my work and recieve an"A" or a "B". This year my main priortity was to not have a stressful year and not worry about any work that had not been turned in or any work that was late. Tere were actually times this year that I did feel stressed. This year my english grades didn't satisfy me because I didn't recieve the grades I wanted. I was not happy because I didn't reach any of my expextations.
This year I turned in every assignment.The mosy difficult assignment was the Kaffir Boy essay because I didn't really understand my concrete details and would write something totally different for the commentatry.The most useful assignment for me was the Understanding Language essay. I understood what I was writing and the format I had to write it in, I enjoyed the assignment Jaberwocky because it helped me to understand maore about language and speaking such as nouns, verbs, adjectives etc. I believe that our class could have done with out the Myth, Tale and Legend asiignment. I didn't really understand the point of it. Now that I think about it, I think we should have worked with poems suchas Romeo and Juliet.
Now that I have taken sophomore english and passed both semester I fell a little more comfortable with writing. Last year I didn't have the capability to do things I learned this year. Last year I use to get my papers back saying to work on the organization, but now I understand better on how to put it in the correct order. One of the problems I had in english was understanding what I was reading. I feel confident in reading and writing now because I solved my problems I had in the past by reading more this year. I dont believe Iwill do more and more reading and writing in the future because, honestly I dont really enjoy it.
I've decided to put three writing samples in my webpage. The first one is the essay on language. This is because I recieved a good grade on it and understood ot the most. The second essay will be the Bless Me, Ultima essay because I understood what I was writing and I enjoyed ot very much. The third sample is my Brag Sheet essay. This is because it was about me and what I enjoy doing. The grades that I recieved on these papers were very desent and that makes me very proud. You can tell from the first essay I wrote this year , there were little errors that could be fixed, but closer and closer it got to the end of the year my essays started getting better with less mistakes.
