Joey & Kelly, Joey's return from desert storm.

This poem is expressly written for Jane in memory of Joey.

He's Not There

The day has come that most mothers fear
The precious life you hold so dear
Has been taken away without a trade
With nothing but heartache to take its place.
You hear a whisper, you hear a sound
In a day sometime you've found
Through your tears you stop and stare
You turn to look, but he's not there.

You wander through the halls and rooms
In your memory his image looms
Your thoughts turn to him instead
What were the words that we last said.

Did you tell him how much you loved him
Did you show him and tell him how much you care
You fight back the tears you cry for him
You whisper his name, but he's not there.

So you come to terms in your own special way
You want that chance once more to say
How much you love him and how much you care
But it's too late now, he's just not there.

~Joey's Achievements~

Joey served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was in desert storm. After his time was over from the Navy Joey, his wife Kelly and daughter Brooke returned back to his home town that he loved so much. Joey knew everyone in the town. He was such a outgoing person. Joey had a very special gift of being a great artist. When Joey was in High School he received many awards for his art. He had decided to go to the Art Institute of Houston. he was in school for one year. He did so well. He made so many beautiful drawings and was the best at the top of his class. He wanted so bad to graduate from school but it had gotten to be too much on Joey trying to go to school and support his family. We did all we could to help Joey stay in school. But he, Kelly and Brooke came back to Palacios. Joey found a very good job. And his life was going well. He was also a volunteer fireman for his town which he felt so very proud to be a part of. Joey was alos going the police academy at night to become a reserve Ploice Officer also for the town of Palacios. Oh how proud he was. He couldn't wait till his gaduation. So he could get out into his community and help make a difference. He always wanted to become a Police officer. And I know somewhere down the road he would have become a Police Officer. All Joey could talk about was that he ehad one week before his graduation. I couldn't wait to be there to see him graduate. I had a big surprise party planned for him with family, friends and his classmates. But Joey was called home by his Lord. At Joey's funeral all his classmates from the academy came with many tears and gave his wife Kelly a beautiful plaque from the academy. So you could say that Joey did graduate, after all.As well all his friends from the fire department gave kelly a beautiful plaque. In honor of Joey.

~Joey Loved ...~
He loved family, friends & life. He loved playing Baseball. He had been on a team in his town. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, that was his team. He loved having his brother A.J and his friends over to watch the game. He always wore a Dallas Cowboy hat. His brither A.J, who loved his brother Joey so much, and always looked up to him. They were so close. A.J brought his brother Joeya new Dallas Cowboy hat and put it in his coffin. Joey loved having family barbecues. Oh how he loved Christmas. He loved his church he was a very happy man. So to end this, Joey was so special. I thank God for letting me, his Dad, brother, Kelly and Brooke and his family have him for the best 24 years he lived. I miss him so much, and life just isn't the same. I wish we could have him back. But he his in heaven with his Lord doing so many good things. To you my son, Hugs, Miss You, Hugs. Love You Mom.
